Week#11 - To the the Finish Line & Beyond!
Today's class is about task completion, assessment & reflection, and Life after EFL537
Assessment &
Reflection
- Below are questions about this course and this program. We will be discussing these during small group conversation, but I welcome text answers as well. You can post answers here.

Course Content
- Which activities or assignments were most engaging or useful? Which caused the most anxiety or frustration?
- What suggestions to you have for activities or assignments that would be helpful to future generations of EFL537'ers?
- Which topics, skills, or tools do you wish had been covered in more depth? Which do you wish had been covered less or entirely ignored?
Course Website
- What was most useful/helpful about the EFL537.com website?
- What was most confusing/frustrating about the EFL537.com website?
- What suggestions to you have for making the course website better?
Instrructor
- What should Jeff tell students next time about his teaching biases and approach?
- What were the most/least effective aspects of Jeff's methods of skills training? What could he have done differently or how could the course be structured differently to help you make more progress?
- Jeff has stated that he is more concerned with a student's 'trajectory of learning' than ability to produce finished projects. He also encourages student to find their particular CALL related learning desires and produce course content accordingly, resulting in project work that varies greatly from student to student.
A) Do you think these are valid or appropirate approaches for this course?
B) Given these, how can assessment of student work in this course be done as fairly as possible?
- What kind of feedback do you want from Jeff - both during the course and as he assesses your project portfolio?
Assorted
- Were you satisfied wih the collaborative aspects of this course - with classmates and those outside this class? What kind of collaboration would you like to see mroe of and how can it be better supported?
- So much of using CALL effectively involves getting past the countless little obstacles that get in the way ( or getting the kinks out). Any thoughts on how best to prevent these challenges from getting in the way? Is it possible to develop a 'computer problem solving intuition' or is this an innate trait that some people have and others don't?
TEFL Program
- As a component of the SNHU TEFL Program, how can the material covered in this course be integrated with other courses and applied to the work you do for this program.
- How can this course be modified to better fit into the TEFL program?
- When do you think is the best time for a student to take this course?(i.e. early in the program, late in the program, doesn't matter)
- How did feel about program orientation? What orientation suggestions do you have that might help future program participants?
- Are there any courses or topics you wish had been offered as part of the TEFL program, but were not?
- Please share any other feedback or suggestions you'd like to share about this program in general and/or this course in particular?
Life after EFL537
- Once you recover from this course and enjoy some quality offline time, where do you want to focus your CALL related energy - short term & long term? General skills and specific projects?
- What role (if any) would you like the course website and participation as an 'EFL537 grad' in future courses to play?
Task Completion
- Go to your profile page (log in and click My account). Make sure your badge listings and profile links are accurate.
- Make sure the following assignments have been completed (or will be very soon)
- 'Fave Screencasts' - two webistes, two tools/skills
- Audio from last week's discussion is edited and posted
- CALL related del.icio.us bookmarks are tagged 'efl537'
- Your personal space includes pages (or blog categories) for 'about' and 'efl537'. The EFL537 page should nclude links to anything you've done for this course - you do not have to link to each post on EFL537.com, you can just link to your profile page.
- Create a graduation screencast (5 minutes ~ 1 jing max)
- Take me on a tour of the work you've done for this course. Use this as an opportunity to document your learning and demonstrate your hard work and progress. Highlight any content or intangible efforts that should be considered for assessment purposes. Please produce just one 'overview' screencast. If you would to produce additional ones to provide more detail, that's fine.
