Feedback - Instructor

  • What should Jeff tell students next time about his teaching biases  and approach?
  • What were the most/least effective aspects of Jeff's methods of skills training?  What could he have done differently or how could the course be structured differently to help you make more progress?
  • Jeff has stated that he is  more concerned with a student's 'trajectory of learning' than ability to produce finished projects. He also encourages student to find their particular CALL related learning desires and produce course content accordingly, resulting in project work that varies greatly from student to student.
      A) Do you think these are valid or appropirate approaches for this course?
      B) Given these,  how can assessment of student work in this course be done as fairly as possible?
  • What kind of feedback do you want from Jeff - both during the course and as he assesses your project portfolio?

The screencasts are wonderful when working at home, and when you slowed down a little and started telling what you were doing to get from step A to step B, they became even better! As far as assigning projects, I really think we all learned the maximum possible because we were doing things that really interested us. I'll guarantee you that I would not have spent nearly the time I did developing 'pure listening' quizzes had it not been something I'd chosen to do. The badge idea is terrific, and doing them late in the class is a great way to remind us of things we may have forgotten. Dare I suggest that people be encouraged to do more of them?
