Skype

Skype
Skype is a program that lets you speak to anyone in the world for for free.  It also allows users to make a video calls and share desktops.  We will use this to help answer technical questions during this course. Skype also provides an easy way to have a live group text chat.  We have used group chats during past sessions and I would like to set one up that allows you to connect with past students as well,  so that you can all ask questions and share advice with each other.
In case Skype is not installed on your computer, you can download skype here: http://www.skype.com/download/skype/windows/
Once it is installed on your computer, start the program and register for an account. If it is already installed and someone else is logged in, you can sign out by clicking 'Skype/Signout'. Then you can either register or log in.

In order to call people, you will need to make them your contact. To do so, click 'New/New Contact'.

Search for the person's name or ID.  When you see them listed, click 'Add Contact'.

To start a text chat with someone, RIGHT click on their ID and select 'Send IM'.

To call them, click 'Call'.

Once you're in a call, if you'd like to share your screen, click 'Call/Share Your Screen'.  You can select to share your full screen or a part of it (share selection).
